Current Consumer Representation
Cancer Voices NSW, in conjunction with The Cancer Council NSW, offers training in cancer consumer advocacy. Most of our representatives are graduates of the Consumer Advocacy Training course which is held two or three times a year. Dates are advised in the Newsletter.
CVN representatives contribute to decision-making by representing the needs and issues of people affected by cancer. They participate in committees and working parties of the following organisations:
- The Cancer Council NSW
- The Cancer Institute NSW
- NSW Department of Health
- Area Cancer Management Groups
- Directors of Cancer Services Forum
- The Cancer Council Australia
- Department of Health & Aged Care
- Professional Colleges
- Research organisations
- National Health & Medical Research Council
- Consumers’ Health Forum of Australia
- Cancer consumer representatives also sit on many working parties for site-specific cancer (e.g. breast, prostate, bowel, lung, etc) for their own member organisations, and at state and national levels.
If you are seeking informed cancer consumer input, please fill in the linked request for a consumer representative form. This will reach us by email and provide a record of you request and needs. We will endeavour to offer you a suitable representative within two weeks.
